Tips For Growing Hair
1. TAKE CARE OF THE SCALP
The scalp is alive and should be well taken care of because hair grows from the scalp. Without a healthy scalp, you can not grow hair. The scalp loves vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, fruit and nut oils which should be applied regularly for proper hair growth. 2. TAKE CARE OF THE HAIR
The hair needs moisture to shine and have luster. If the hair does not have enough moisture it will become dull, lackluster, and brittle. Hair needs protection in the form of emollients and lubricants. Hairobics Products to Use: Hairobics Hair Oil, Hairobics Detangler Oil

3. TAKE CARE OF THE ENDS
The ends of the hair make the length. Special attention should be given to the ends of the hair in the form of oils. Without a little oil on the ends they will split very easy because the ends of the hair are the oldest part of the hair and very fragile. Oils that are good for the ends include evening primrose, apricot kernel, sunflower, sesame to name as few. Hairobics Products to Use: Hairobics Hair Oils, Hairobics Detangler Oil, Hairobics Pomade

4. COMMITTING TO DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENTS
When the hair has a deep conditioning treatment, the conditioner deposits a coating of positively charged conditioning agents a few molecules thick on the hair shaft. This coating remains after rinsing, lubricating the hair shafts and reducing friction, tangles, and knots, thus minimizing stretching the hair while wet and most vulnerable. 5. AVOID EXCESSIVE EXPOSURE TO THE SUNLIGHT
Hair is just as prone to sun damage as the skin and scalp. The sun is a powerful energy source that will oxidize the pigment in the hair and damage the hair shaft. Sunscreens protect the hair from some of this damage; they can also provide a measure of protection to the scalp. Wearing a scarf is also a way of protecting the hair from not only the sun but the wind, rain, dust as well. Hairobics Products to Use: Hairobics Hair Oil, Hairobics Detangler Oil, Hairobics Pomade

6. CHOOSING THE APPROPRIATE SHAMPOO
When choosing shampoo make sure that the product contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, and amino acids as well as strengthen and protect the hair. Many shampoos on the market strip the hair of natural oils, offer minimal protection of the hair shaft, and have no nutrients to supply the hair. 7. KEEPING THE ENDS OF THE HAIR TRIMMED
The ends of the hair are very fragile and must be trimmed every 8 to 10 weeks. The amount that has to be trimmed depends on the amount of abuse that the ends have endured. The ends of the hair must be well-lubricated to prevent splitting, breakage, knots and tangles. Hairobics Products to Use: Hairobics Hair Oil, Hairobics Detangler Oil, Hairobics Pomade

8. COMMITTING TO HOT OIL TREATMENTS
Hot oil treatments usually take the form of pre-shampoo conditioning. Hot oil treatments are excellent when growing hair to a desired length. Hot oil treatments are used for their stimulating, strengthening, and moisturizing properties. Pre-shampoo scalp treatments loosen and slouch off dead surface cells on the scalp and provide nourishing emollient and antioxidant benefits. 9. CHOOSING HAIR STYLES THAT PROTECT AND KEEP THE HAIR HEALTHY
Choosing hair styles that are healthy for the hair are very important. Wearing braids or weaves that are too long or tight create a medical condition called alopecia areata (sudden hair loss in patches). If not given the attention that the scalp needs it will result in permanent hair loss. Hairstyles that pull or weigh down the hair because of weaves should be avoided. Work with your professional stylist to develop a style that will work with, and not against your hair's natural inclination.

10. USING STYLING TOOLS TOO REGULARLY (BLOW DRYER, HOT COMB, FLAT IRONING, FLAT IRONING, HOT CURL)
Keep in mind that any styling implement can become a tool of destruction, damaging your hair's health. The heat from these styling tools when used too regularly can cause the hair to break, split, become brittle and hard. Limit the use of these appliances as well as use low temperature settings whenever possible.

11. USING OLD HAIR TOOLS
Take a look at all the hair tools that you use, and get rid of any that are broken or in disrepair. This includes everything from the comb with broken teeth or brush with broken bristles that can snap hair, causing great damage and excessive tension on the hair.

12. NOT HAVING A HAIR MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
The hair can only take care of itself up to about 2 to 4 inches when there is no hair maintenance program. That is why some people think that their hair can not grow or it only grows up to a certain point and then it breaks. Talk to your hair professional and ask he or she what can you do to your hair for maintenance during the time period that you are not at the salon.

13. POOR DIET
You cannot have healthy hair or hair growth without a proper diet. Hair is primarily a transformation of our daily food. Strong beautiful hair shows we have a strong digestive system and that we are assimilating our food optimally. The health of the hair depends on the proper supply of nutrients. Taking in foods like refined sugars, certain spices, chemical additives, soft drinks, and so on will deplete and weaken the hair, while eating healthy, nutrient packed foods will give resilience and strength. A diet lacking nutrients can result in hair that is dull, thin, dry, brittle, and you will face breakage or full-blown hair loss. Hairobics Hair Products to Use: Hairobics Hair Vitamins

Interview with Stephanie

1. What prompted you to start your own hair care line? I was a ballet dancer and the hairstyle we wore was pulled back into a tight ponytail. The ponytail was so tight the sides, front, and back of our hair experienced a lot of breakage. I also experienced breakage from wearing braids, press n curl, perms, color, and weaves. Some of the hair care products I bought also took my hair out. After I would grow my hair, it would fall out for whatever reason, then back to the beauty supply store to buy every product I thought was remedy the situation. One day the beaut supply owner told me there are no new products for me to my to repair my hair. This statement saddened me because my hair had broken down to one inch and I was getting desperate. So I decided to research hair and hair care products. I concluded that herbs, essential oils, fruit and nut oils were the best products to use on black hair. It took twelve years of research and experimenting before I came up my first Hairobics product that worked. Most products are not designed for black hair and its maintenance, which could be the reason that our hair is always breaking.

2. What is the premise behind the name "Hairobics"? When I was a ballet dancer, I also had my own ballet school. The curriculum at the school consisted of ballet, tap, jazz, modern and aerobics. At this time I was also researching my hair care line. One day my husband was watching me teach an aerobics class. He put together the words "hair" and "aerobics" together and thus the word "Hairobics" was born.

3. Why should people buy your products over other brands? My products are natural. They are made from herbs, essential oils, fruit and nut oils which enhanced the hair, scalp, and the ends of the hair. I am also an example of my products. My hair is mid thigh length. My herbal combinations are carefully chosen and tested. I still test products on my hair.

9. What advice would you give women interested in growing their hair long while it is chemically treated? The advice I would give women interested in growing their hair long while chemically treated would be to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!! Don't forget that long hair is old hair. Old hair has been through more shampooing, conditioning, blow drying, chemicals, hot curling, etc. then the hair by the scalp. Old hair is also the driest part of the hair follicle which is always breaking or splitting. That's why moisturizing is a must. THE FOLLOWING IS A MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR GROWING PERMED HAIR USING THE HAIROBICS PRODUCTS: A. Scalp (5 days out of 7 days): Put the Hairobics Hair and Scalp Leave-In Conditioner throughout the scalp. Massage. Style as usual. Do not wash out. Once a week use the Hairobics Hair and Scalp Booster. Massage. Style as usual. B. Hair: Once a week use less than a dime's worth of Hairobics Hair Oil and put on the hair, applying the Hairobics Hair Oil throughout hair working down to the ends. C. Ends of the Hair: Once a week, put a little Hairobics Hair Oil in the hands and apply evenly throughout the ends. Pay close attention to the ends of the hair, checking for dynes and splits. The ends are important because they make the length of the hair. (IF THIS PROGRAM IS FOLLOWED YOU WILL SEE RESULTS IN 6 TO 8 WEEKS)
